Creative Toolkit 🎨✨
A collection of free, open-source, freemium and paid creative tools for different workflows and budgets.

As a creative, I’ve been exploring more tools outside of Adobe and other industry-standard software to build a broader, more flexible toolkit for the different kinds of work I do — without relying entirely on expensive subscriptions.

So, I started putting together a reference list of creative tools across different budgets, covering everything from drawing, illustration and animation to 3D, game development, video editing, web design, audio, posing, visual development, creative coding, photogrammetry and more.

One thing I’ve really enjoyed is discovering just how many strong options are available. Whether you’re looking for something free, more affordable, simpler to use, or simply better suited to the way you work, there’s a huge creative ecosystem out there!

Not every program is a direct replacement for another and that isn’t really the point. The idea is to show how many accessible options are available depending on what you want to create.
Different tools are built for different jobs, workflows and people. Sometimes, the best option is simply the one that works best for you.

For me, putting this together has been a great reminder that there’s no single “correct” way to create. The best software is ultimately the software that supports your artistry, your workflow, your budget and your ideas. 💜 It’s been really interesting seeing just how many capable creative tools exist beyond the traditional industry-standard ecosystems.

So, for anyone looking to explore some alternatives or expand your own creative toolkit, here are a few creative tools worth checking out. Have a swipe through and save it for later!

What are your favourite creative tools or software alternatives?
Are there any hidden gems you think more artists and designers should know about?

Let me know. I’m always looking to discover more! ✨

Cupid in the Demon Slayer Universe

I have wanted to do this for so long and after a lot of thinking and revisions, I’ve finally written how my OC would be in the Demon Slayer Universe

————————————

The Soul Hashira | Soul Breathing

Soul Breathing is deprived from Sun Breathing as life and the mind, rather than depriving from Flame Breathing where it is passion and drive

Life as an overarching force, mind as the guiding light; a balance, It being the very essence of life in all living things

Sun Breathing isn’t just fire. It’s dawn breaking over the mountains. It’s warmth on frozen skin, it’s life waking up after darkness. And Soul Breathing comes from that same light, but as the pulse inside every heartbeat — breathing with the soul of creation itself.

🐇 The Bunny Motif in Soul Breathing
• Symbolism of Rabbits in Folklore
Rabbits often symbolize life, fertility, rebirth, and quick instincts — all of which tie beautifully to the theme of “life and mind.” In Japanese folklore, rabbits are also associated with the moon (the “Moon Rabbit”), which fits with her Moon Crescent Blade.
• Aesthetic Integration
Instead of literal rabbits popping up, her techniques could leave behind shimmering afterimages or light trails shaped like rabbit silhouettes, stars, or crescent moons. They vanish quickly, giving an ethereal, fleeting feeling.

Weapon: Moon Crescent Blade

2011–2012 (or it could’ve been 2010…) vs 2026 ✨
A very successful glow-up, I think.

This is the same fairy, just drawn by the future version of me.
Full disclosure, I have no idea what the things are on her shoulders in the 2011-2012 drawing… Backpack straps maybe? A scarf? A fashion choice? A part of her hair?

Who knows.

Either way, younger me would be so happy seeing her reimagined now. It’s honestly so sweet seeing how much my art has grown, whilst still keeping the same love for my fantasy, cute outfits and magical characters 🧚‍♀️💕

I guess I haven’t changed all that much 😝

Now vs Then - Futuristic City
Remastered Refinement

This is a remaster? of an older verison of this drawing. See original drawing on the next slide for comparsion.

I will admit it’s not a whole lot of changes, but sometimes the smaller things in life can make a big difference. The focus is to clean up lines, add shading for a more dynamic feel and focusing the areas of:
- Value and lineweight hierarchy (less noise, more intentional blacks)
- Focal and Structural clarity (the city reads better)
- Detail and cleaner shapes instead of scratchy detail
- Negative space refinement

The environment I wanted to feature is a futuristic city from an alternative universe via exploring the idea of mixed Asian temple structures (mostly referencing to Japanese temples) to be present within the city culture - The idea stemmed from Tekkonkinkreet, Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Alita, and of course Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. I still wanted the view to come from a frozen lake, just to say that there’s still nature present in this ever developed world.
